At The Beachcomber Hotel in Nelson, we offer more than a place to stay, we deliver the true Sunny Nelson experience.

Located in Tāhunanui, Nelson, just minutes from Tāhunanui Beach, local sports fields, cafés and Nelson Airport, we’re a welcoming base for business travellers, families, sports teams, tour groups and visitors exploring the Nelson Tasman region.

Our approach is simple: enter as strangers, leave as friends. As locals with more than a decade of experience in accommodation, our team loves helping guests discover Nelson’s favourite places, hidden gems and local experiences.

Since 2017, The Beachcomber Hotel has continued to grow and evolve. Today, our 82-room hotel includes 14 recently added units, giving us more space to welcome guests while maintaining the friendly, personal service we’re known for.

Dining Options

We offer a daily continental breakfast service with a selection of cereals, breads, fresh fruit, and more. Please be advised that during the quieter winter season, breakfasts are conveniently delivered as room service for guests to enjoy in the warmth and comfort of their room.

Nelson has a great variety of cafes, taverns, and restaurants. The options below are within close range.  Ask our reservations team for their recommendations. 

Here are some of our favourites close by:

Beach Cafe:  Great for families or a coffee in the sun, right by the beach and includes a playground and beach volleyball area

Catch 22:  Serving coffees through to cocktails,  cold beers & vinos with a delicious menu to enjoy.

Raglan Roast Cafe  (Our favourite, right across the road from the beach and very popular with the locals)    

Smugglers:  This is right next door to The Beachcomber Hotel and is well known for its hearty meals, friendly service which we highly recommend 

Sprig and Fern- Tahuna:  A local brewery right by the beach, a firm favourite with the locals   

Taaj:  This is a bit more of a walk but well worth it if you are feeling like really good Indian food

Thai Tahuna:  Check out Thai Tahuna for authentic Thai cuisine  

And of course we have Subway, KFC and McDonalds on our doorstep
